Pool time

We can already tell that we are going to LOVE living in a neighborhood with a community pool. It's only been opened for 3 days and the girls are having a blast! There are so many kids to play with and the best part is how hard they sleep after swimming. It's so nice to have great, free entertainment just a block away. We are looking forward to such a fun summer!

Sleep depravation

Neal and I do not know how to make babies that sleep well. I hear people talk about their babies sleeping through the night at like week 4 all of the time (how?!!?!??!?).

We didn't have Reese sleeping an uninterrupted night until around 18 months & I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Ella came then so we were slower to get to her room when she cried...so she just had to kind of figure it out. In the beginning Reese was a terrible sleeper due to acid reflux, like she hardly slept for the 1st 6 weeks. She mainly cried, and so did I. From about month 10 on her crying mainly had to do with the loss of the pacifier. We now line the pacifiers up on the side of her crib so that she can replace them herself. I am happy to say that she is sleeping like a superstar at this point. She even sleeps in on the weekends sometimes, until close to 10 on a couple of occasions :0.

Ella has definitely been a better sleeper. As a young infant she actually slept. However, we are at month 7 and she is still waking up 1-2 times per night to eat. I am so hoping that we are getting close to sleeping through the night.

For Mother's Day Neal took both monitors and let me sleep through the entire night. This was such an amazing gift. I was shocked at how awesome I felt after a full nights rest, it makes a big difference for me. I am one I those people that loves sleep. I know this is only a phase of my life, a phase that I will one day miss. We will sleep soon!

If I'm going to be sleep deprived for anyone it would be these girls.

Mother's Day as a mommy

I feel so blessed to have my 2 precious girls that have given me the honor of being called mommy. I remember spending Mother's Day while longing to become a mom 4 years in a row, that was hard. Our girls have brought so much joy to my life and have made Mother's day a much more enjoyable day that I cannot wait for now.

My sweet husband made Mother's day very special this year. He (& the girls) got me a beautiful watch and perfume. He made me breakfast, took me out for ice cream and made me lunch. He occupied the girls so that I could make dinner, I really enjoy cooking and it was nice to get to do this with little interruption. I think my favorite part of the day was all of the outside play that we did since the weather was finally really warm and nice. We had a great day.

My pretty new watch:

Reese's 2nd golf birthday party

Guess whos idea it was to have a golf party for Reese's 2nd birthday. I honestly thought that it was a great idea and it turned out to be a blast. We had golf cart rides, a sand box that was called a sand trap, a slide that was called a down hill tee shot, a water table that was called a water hazard, a driving range, a covered tent called a caddy shack and painted golf holes. All of the kiddos seemed to have a good time. Below are some photos of the day.

This is a picture of Reese and her BFF Reagan at her school celebration:

A busted lip and chipped tooth

A week ago Reese was pushed by one of her "friends" at school and fell into a table. She busted her lip and it was so swollen and sad. Her teacher said that she handled it really well and held the ice pack on it like a trooper.

That evening I knew something about her looked different but I didn't figure it out until the next day as she was eating breakfast. Her tooth was chipped! It is not too dramatic but it has altered her smile and caused her to look a bit snaggle toothed.

I know this is not really a big deal but it was a bit sad to me that her perfect little smile was altered. It would have been easier if she had fallen on her own and not pushed by another kid. BUT, oh well I'm sure worse will happen before she is grown and I'm thankful that this incident wasn't worse than it was. She's still the most beautiful toddler I know...I just love her.
